Will the JW Speaker 8700 be the new Jeep LED Headlight Option

Most Jeep enthusiasts know what types of LED headlights are available for their vehicle, and arguably the most popular option in recent years has been the JW Speaker model 8700 LED Headlight. This model of the available Jeep headlight options has the most futuristic and unique look, and the best light output of any other 7″ round LED Headlight on the market, so it’s no wonder that they are the most popular.

Because it has become such a popular product in the Jeep community, it’s no wonder it has caught the eye of Jeep corporate. At last year’s SEMA show (2013) the Mopar booth had Truck-Lite LED headlights branded with the Jeep logo.

Now in 2014 at the Jeep booth they have JW Speaker 8700 LED headlights, factory equipped with H13 connectors, and the Jeep logo branded on the inner bezel. Why does Jeep keep debuting different LED headlights at their booth with the Jeep logo? My guess is they are just feeling the water for the market, throwing options at the wall to see what sticks and to see what people like.

Here are the pictures from the Jeep booth, showing the JW Speaker LED headlights marketed in the Jeep booth at SEMA 2014:

Jeep LED Fog Light Upgrades: Review of the Four Best Options.

If you are looking to upgrade your Jeep Wrangler JK fog lights, you’ve probably thought about making the switch to LED. Here is a video that talks about four of the most popular LED fog light options for the Jeep JK. This video will walk you through all the specs of the different LED fog lights, show you the pros and cons, and walk you through the installation of each light in a Jeep Wrangler JK front bumper. The video does go in-depth on each LED light, so we’ve broken the video down for you. After watching this video you’ll be ready to make the choice of what LED fog light is best for your Jeep JK.

This video reviews the Truck-Lite 80275, the JW Speaker 6045, the JW Speaker 6145, and the Vision X 2″ 10w Solstice Solo.

The first two LED Fog Lights reviewed for the Jeep JK are the Truck-Lite 80275, and the JW Speaker 6045. Both of these LED Lights are PAR36, 4.5″ lights, and as you can see from the video, both of these lights use extra brackets to mount them from behind the JK bumper. At 8:34 you can watch the steps to install both of these lights.

Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the Truck-Lite 80275 and the beam pattern it gives off. The 80275 is a great cost saving option for new LED fog lights especially if you already have the Truck-lite LED headlights.

Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the JW Speaker 6045 and the huge beam pattern it gives off.

These next two options are great because they have built in brackets for an easy behind the bumper installation. These are the JW Speaker 6145, and the Vision X 2″ 10w Solstice Solo. At 18:54 you can watch the mounting of these two lights in a Jeep bumper.

Here’s a look at the specifications of the JW Speaker 6145. The design is a little smaller than the 6045 predecessor, but that allows the light to fit just as well as the original stock fog light housing. Here you’ll also see the impressive beam pattern that has a great color.

And the last LED fog light reviewed is the Vision X 2″ 10w Solstice Solo. Here you’ll see the specs and the beam pattern. This fog light was designed for off-road use and gives off a long beam of direct light.

New Jeep Wranglers Will Come Equipped with Factory-Option LED Headlights!

At the 2013 SEMA Tradeshow in Las Vegas showcased every major automobile manufacturer in the world, and their new toys and Mopar/Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep was no exception. The Mopar booth in the South Hall at the SEMA Show had several new Jeeps and they all had LED headlights. 3 of the Jeeps were sporting the Truck-Lite 27270C LED headlights, but ONLY ONE was sporting a new Jeep branded LED headlight – which signifies the turning of the tide in non-luxury vehicles finally getting OEM LED headlights:

Future Jeep JK owners will have the option of a factory installed LED headlight option.

This new Jeep branded LED headlight product slightly resembles the Peterson Manufacturing 701C by the way the center gray section is shaped, but the embossing on the bottom of the lens clearly says Truck-Lite. It’s hard to say if this is an old version of a prototype headlight, or a new design of the 27270C from Truck-Lite designed specifically for Mopar.

Here is the Peterson Manufacturing 701C 7″ Round LED Headlight product to show you the similarities in design of the new Jeep headlight:

For contrast, here is the Truck-Lite 27270C. Why does the Jeep branded headlight say Truck-Lite but look like the Peterson Manufacturing product? The Jeep branded headlight seems to have the reflector of the Truck-Lite lamp, but the center section of the Peterson lamp.

It’s interesting that Jeep chose to use the Truck-Lite product instead of the JW Speaker 8700 LED headlight which outperforms all other similar LED headlights on the market. This tells us that Jeep knows it’s customers don’t want to shell out $1,000 for a set of re-branded JW Speaker lights and they went the exact opposite direction by using one of the cheapest options on the market.

Now, on the other hand, Harley Davidson is already using the JW Speaker product for their “Day Maker” factory LED headlight option. It would be strange if Harley and Jeep used the same factory option LED headlight.

It will be exciting to see what the final product looks like, or if we’re already looking at it here, it’s strange that the official product LOOKS LIKE the Peterson product yet branded as Truck-Lite… Time will tell!

Jeep Wrangler Specific LED Fog Lights? Yes! They’re here!

On April, 3rd 2013, American manufacturer JW Speaker Corp. announced they are working on a new LED fog light product designed specifically for the Jeep Wrangler JK:

“As promised, we unveiled our latest Jeep product at Easter Jeep Safari last week! Introducing the new drop-in replacement LED Jeep fog light…a little something we’re calling the Model 6145!”

The new 1,100 Lumen Jeep-Specific LED fog light from JW Speaker, Model #6145.

JW Speaker also said “On the flickering side of things, we’ve tested the new fog light with the Jeep PWM duty cycle and frequency and we’re pleased to say that no flickering was present” so there is no worry about the strobe effect like the issues found when using the LED headlights on the JK’s. Now, this wouldn’t be a problem anyway, seeing as though no LED fog lights (from Truck-Lite OR JW Speaker) have ever had flashing or flickering issues.

The new foglights are a drop-in factory replacement!

The new foglights are a drop-in factory replacement!

These new fog lights come with the same type of mounting setup that the factory Wrangler fog lights use so they will be a direct drop-in replacement for the stock bumper OR any other type of aftermarket bumper designed to take the factory fog light housings. In fact, the JW Speaker 6145 Jeep Fog Lights will fit more than JUST the JK Wrangler. These new lights will also fit the following vehicles:

* 2007-2012 Jeep Wrangler
* 2011-2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
* 2009-2012 Dodge Journey
* 2011-2012 Dodge Charger
* 2005-2008 Dodge Magnum
* 2005 Chrysler 300
* 2006-2010 PT Cruiser

This wide array of applicable vehicles is a coincidence after JW decided to make fog lights for the Jeep Wrangler JK they discovered that it will also fit other vehicles that happen to use the exact same fog light housing from Chrysler.

JW Speaker also states on the Facebook page that “The price hasn’t been finalized yet, but our network of authorized dealers will have pricing for the June release.”

You can find more information and pictures about these exciting new lights at the Headlight Revolution here.

In the Jeep and Harley communities, one of the latest hot topics are replacement LED headlights. The two most popular items being the JW Speaker 8700 and the Truck-Lite 27270CC 7″ round replacement LED headlight housings.

Watch this video review of the Truck-Lite headlights I did where I compare it to the JW Speaker variant. You’ll get a good idea about this new headlight and if you think the JW Speaker 8700 is worth the money when compared to the Trucklite product:

How to stop JK Jeep Wrangler Flickering LED Headlights

This is a harness made by Headlight Revolution that was the first product ever to solve the flickering problems when installing LED headlights in the JK Jeep Wrangler.

One of the most popular things happening in the Jeep market right now (other than Vision X LED Off Road light bars) are LED headlights. Several companies make a light that will fit the opening of the Jeep that uses a 7″ round headlight housing, but nobody makes one specifically for the Jeep. This is a problem because the JK Jeep Wrangler (2007+ Models) use a special CANBUS functionality built into the lighting circuit. This is a good thing because it is a more intelligent design to control the lighting but it makes modifying the headlights a difficulty. This is how to fix the flickering problems you will encounter when trying to install LED headlights into your JK.

This is the only thing you need in order to install flicker-free 8700 LED headlights into your 2007-2014 Jeep JK.

Without doing any modifications to the wiring, if you install LED headlights, like the JW Speaker 8700 Evolution, or the Truck-Lite 27250C the lights will flicker, flash randomly or strobe. This can cause headaches for the owner of the product because it will seem like the product is defective.

Jeep JK Wrangler with LED Headlights, no flashing

With the anti-flicker harness from TLG-Auto you can install any LED headlights in your Jeep Wrangler without any flashing or strobing problems!

If your LED headlights installed in your JK Jeep flicker or strobe, the lights are not broken – IT’S A PROBLEM WITH YOUR JEEP! Don’t send the lights back. Instead just buy the harness. You need THIS HARNESS to work with JW Speaker 8700 or you need THIS HARNESS to work with Truck-Lite 27270C. The Jeep Wrangler JK Anti-Flicker harness for JW Speaker LED headlights is made by Headlight Revolution and will solve your LED headlight strobe problems. This is a plug and play harness and requires no modifications, and you don’t have to hook it up to the battery! Simply plug it into the LED headlight and plug the other side into the Jeep – THAT’S IT!

JW Speaker 6045 Jeep LED Fog Lights – New Bracket

This bracket is for sale here.

JW Speaker 4.5" LED Fog Light JK Jeep

This is an early model picture of an upcoming fog light replacement bracket for the JK Jeep Wrangler. This will allow you to install the JW Speaker 6045 LED fog light into the factory bumper of all J/K Jeeps!

J.W. Speaker Corporation of Germantown, Wisconsin USA is the manufacturer of arguably some of the best LED headlight or forward lighting products in the world. Today’s lighting market has different segments, like any other, and no matter where you look for LED offroad lights or LED headlights, nobody compares equally to the JW Speaker LED headlights and 4.5″ driving lights. JW Speaker beats the competition in style, durability and sheer lighting performance. It’s no wonder that the Jeep enthusiast community has taken notice and elected the JW Speaker Model #8700 Evolution as their headlight leader!

Jeep JK 4.5" LED Driving Light

Jeep with JW Speaker 8700 LED headlights and JW Speaker 6045 LED fog lights. These match each other very well and are available in black or chrome.

Now that the masses have fallen in love with this quad-projector LED headlight they wanted something equally as impressive, in both looks and light output, to match the 8700 headlights. Enter the JW Speaker Model #6045 LED Fog Light. The 6045 is a 4.5″ round LED light utilizing 3 “D” shaped lenses each focusing high power LED chips inside the housing. Until now truck customizing shops have had to make their own bracketry to hold the 4.5″ LED light in place but very soon, when it is made available to the general public, there will be a plug and play option.

This is the Jeep Dragon concept vehicle that used all LED lighting including Recon and JW Speaker.

I think the thing that really prompted people to start trying this combo was the Jeep Dragon concept built for this year’s China Automobile Expo. I just wanted to give you a heads up that the Jeep JK 6045 LED Fog Light will become a more viable option very soon once this custom plug-and-play bracket is built and on the market. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more!
